New Permanent Forms

These new permanent forms which are made out of styrofoam and are approved by most cities, are buildable block that stack on top of each other. They provide insulation on the interior and exterior of the walls of your basement or crawl space. As you can see, a window will be going into this basement addition.

The Ties

After a row of blocks are layed, the next step is securing your walls with ties. These ties are used to make sure your wall maintains the correct width. These ties are added everytime a new layer of styrofoam blocks are used.

Bracing is Very Important

It is important to brace these forms on both the inside and outside to keep the wall in place and keep the concrete from blowing out the walls. If your walls are braced properly, as shown here, you will have a straight wall.

Adding Concrete

Concrete is poured into the blocks to create you new basement or crawl space wall. Once the concrete has hardened, your contractor can then begin to build you addition. Drywall can be attached directly to the blocks or they can remain exposed.

These blocks provide insulation for your basement or crawl space. This method is safe and effective and will save you money because they are not as labor intensive as putting up and taking down traditional steel forms.
